Easter, called 'Semana Santa' in Spanish, is the busiest time of the year in Mazatlán and at Joe's Oyster Bar!  There are so many people on the beach that you can't see the beach!  If you don't believe me, see the above photo.  Easter in Mexico is the biggest holiday of the year.  Most Mexicans get a few days or the whole week off of work.  Millions of people from the interior of Mexico head for the beach resorts!  Mazatlán gets visitors from Culiacán, the state capital, Guadalajara, and even Monterrey!  There is usually a small cover charge to get into Joe's Oyster Bar during easter week and unfortunately the beers are NOT 2 for 1 during this week.  There may be line ups to get into Joe's Oyster Bar during semana santa.  The volleyball court is usually closed because there are so many people and they need it for seating.  This is the only time of the year where netting is put up to close off the beach front of the bar.  This is for the safety of those inside Joe's Oyster Bar.
