Easter in Mazatlán is so busy with so many people you cannot even see the beach!

Easter, called 'Semana Santa' in Spanish, is the busiest time of the year in Mazatlán and at Joe's Oyster Bar!  There are so many people on the beach that you can't see the beach!  If you don't believe me, just look at the photo.  Easter in Mexico is the biggest holiday of the year.  Most Mexicans get a few days or the whole week off of work.  Millions of people from the interior of Mexico head for the beach resorts!  Mazatlán gets visitors from Culiacán, the state capital, Guadalajara, and even Monterrey!

There may be line ups to get into Joe's Oyster Bar at times during easter week(semana santa).  Also, the volleyball court is usually closed because there are so many people and they need it for seating.  This is the only time of the year where netting is put up to close off the beach front of the bar.  This is for the safety of those inside Joe's Oyster Bar.
