UPDATE: The Brenster Beach Bash show at Diegos starts up again for the season on October 25, 2016!

A few years ago, the Brenster (aka. Brent McAthey) showed up in Mazatlán.  The Brenster is a country recording artist from Alberta, Canada.  He winters in Mazatlán and performs a few different gigs.

The first is his weekly Brenster's Beach Bash at Diego's Beach House.  This is an 'all you can drink' party every tuesday from 2pm to 6pm.  It is all you can drink for $275 pesos or just cover for $70 pesos or non-alcohol open bar for $140(?) pesos.  The Brenster sings a number of sets of mainly country music.  He has a stage on the beach.  People dance in front of the stage.  It usually packs out.  The Brenster is very friendly and visits with his fans between sets.  Also, the food at Diego's is really good and reasonably priced.  We had fish and chips our last time there and it was excellent!  This is one of the only 'all you can drink' events in Mazatlán.  We recommend that you check out this show.

The Brenster does another show with Carrum.  Carrum is a fantastic female vocalist.  In 2014, they are doing a show about every month with various Canadian Country music stars, e.g. Patricia Conroy, The Good Brothers, Gary Fjellgaard, and Joan Kennedy.  This show is at the hotel Playa Mazatlán in the golden zone.
