How good is the Mexican Pacific league baseball?

The level of play is about triple A (AAA).  Each team is allowed a couple of foreigners.  Usually these are players that are on the cusp of making a Major League Baseball team.  These guys have to produce or they are cut and replaced very quickly!  This adds to the level of play!

Caribean Series

In 2016, the Venados won the Caribean Series for the second time.  The Caribean series is an annual tournament of the best club baseball teams in Latin America.  It includes the best club teams from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.  The Venados swept all their games in the tournament which was held in Santo Domingo.

The Venados also won the Caribean Series in 2005 when the tournament was held in Mazatlán.

Where does the Mazatlán baseball team play?

The Mazatlán baseball team plays in the Estadio Teodoro Mariscal which is a 14,000 seat stadium.  The stadium is located a few blocks off of the Malecon (Avenida del Mar) and a few long blocks south of Fiestaland (castle).  You can actually see the stadium from the malecon.  So, it is near to the golden zone.  More specifically, the stadium is in the "stadium" neighbourhood (Frac. Estadio).

To get to the stadium, you can take the Sabalo Centro bus and walk a few block.  Get off the bus at the first stop light south of Fiestaland (the castle).  Walk down the cross street at the light.  Go until you hit the next main street then turn right.  The stadium is a couple of blocks south.  You should see the stadium lights in the distance to the left.

What does it cost to see a baseball game in Mazatlán?

Ticket prices are very reasonable.  The prices change every year, but for example I went to a game in November 2016.  I bought a ticket at the ticket window (south side of stadium) for 200 pesos (US$10.00) for a good ticket about 10 rows up on the Venados side.  There were 3 prices for tickets and this was the mid-range ticket.  Note that there is a different gate for the cheap seats that is separated by a fence.  The cheap seats don't have access to the food court and the main areas between home plate and 1st base and home plate and 3rd base respectively.  Many Americans and Canadians that live in Mazatlán buy seasons tickets and go to the games.

What is the atmosphere like at a baseball game in Mazatlán?

The atmosphere is great!  There is lots of beer and food being sold by vendors.  They have a mascot named Kenny which is a deer who is hillarious!  I would recommend going to the baseball game for an inexpensive and entertaining evening out.
